Now that it’s sunny and the kids are out of school, we know we’ll be spending most of our time out by the pool and grilling with friends. Outdoor design has been on our minds a lot lately, so we’re sourcing for the latest and greatest in outdoor furniture.
We are so proud to have been a part of the relaunch of BKLYNDesigns at the Brooklyn Expo Center in Greenpoint last weekend. The event definitely benefitted from the change of locale: The Expo Center was a wonderfully intimate space for local artisans, all Brooklyn natives, to showcase their work. Our buddies Jeanine and Bryan, founders of Aphrochic felt like the true hosts of the event. Their colorful and cozy Aphrochic lounges created an atmosphere that felt like you were hanging out in their living room.
High Point is always an exciting Design Camp event, an eclectic market filled with great tastemakers, mixing new trends with classical aesthetics. And, as always, our sponsors go FULL OUT with their giveaway items! This year is no exception:
Between Design Camp and KBIS, we had a busy week at the World Market Center in Las Vegas! Camp kicked off with a beautiful vegetarian brunch in the Jaipur Rugs showroom. After a crazy day, shopping and insta-hunting around market, campers reconvened for a seminar from Lori and Kelli. Then camp concluded with a cocktail party at the Natuzzi showroom where campers had a chance to mix and mingle with fellow designers and vendors from around market.
Another Design Camp comes to an end — Design Camp, Atlanta was one of our largest and most inspiring camps yet! We packed the theater at Americas Mart full of 600+ talented interior designers, eager to learn and impact the entire interior design community. These designers had the opportunity to learn from industry tastemakers Suzanne Kasler and Peter Zakas of Z Space Design, whose designs reach far beyond their distinctive aesthetics, stimulating creativity in everyone they come in contact with. Designers also benefitted from the always hilarious, resident Design Camp Deadhead and wine connoisseur, Adam Japko, whose expertise in online marketing is transferrable to just about every profession.

Camp began with a social media scavenger hunt through America Mart’s premier showrooms. Campers mugged for the camera in Natuzzi’s leather recliners, which multiple campers deemed ‘the most comfortable chair ever.’ They threw imaginary tea parties in Fermob’s showroom and fell in love with Fermob’s Kintbury collection — They’re the absolute cutest outdoor chairs we’ve ever seen, perfect for a garden party! Campers gawked at gorgeous new collections in Jaipur Rugs, Currey and Company, Emporium Home, Noir, Europe2You, Leftbank Art, and more! We spotted some of our market favorites in Noir, Worlds Away, Fermob, and Jaipur.
Suzanne Kasler mingled with campers at her exclusive Design Camp book-signing in the Jaipur Rugs showroom. Her book Timeless Style features glossy, full-page images that truly transport you into her elegant imagination.
And what would camp be without a couple of cocktails? In typical Design Camp fashion, camp concluded with a cocktail party– We all knew Currey and Company knew how to design top-notch lighting and furniture, but did you know they also know how to go all-out hosting a party?
So here’s some bad news and good news: The bad news is; Atlanta Camp is over. The good news is; Vegas Camp is coming up on January 19th and there is still time to register online! Stay tuned for more updates about Vegas and other future Camp endeavors. We have LOTS in the works that we cannot wait to share with you guys!
Atlanta can be mighty chilly in the Winter, but the Design Camp Counselors are rolling in and heating it up at market this weekend! We’ve got 600 campers (and counting) and we cannot wait to meet each and every one of you! Day One of Atlanta Camp kicks off with a showroom tour and social media scavenger hunt, and concludes with a cocktail party in the Currey & Company showroom! Drinks AND gorgeous furniture? Yes, Please!
Day Two will begin with discussing flat fees. Then media executive, and design camper favorite, Adam Japko, will enlighten campers with anecdotal tips for internet marketing success! Interested in commercial and hospitality design? Peter Zakas of Z-Space is the one to listen to! Atlanta designer, Suzanne Kasler, master of all things timeless and elegant will take camper’s social media questions live and follow up her keynote address with a book signing of Timeless Style in the Jaipur Rugs showroom!
Keep up with your Design Camp hostesses Kelli Ellis and Lori Dennis on Instagram to see their #ATLMKTFAV’s! We have so much going on this weekend in Atlanta, but we’ll barely have time to catch our breaths before Las Vegas Camp next week!
It’s no secret that the Noir CFC showroom is always a stunner at market. We LOVE their bold punk-rock pieces. If you’re not already familiar with the LA-based furniture manufacturer, imagine Mick Jagger (in his prime) sprawled across a black leather couch backstage at the Grammy’s — That’s the Noir aesthetic. You can take a digital tour of the High Point showroom here.
But when it comes to the practical use of Noir furniture in residential interior designs, we are always shocked to see just how bright noir can be!
Noir has been featured in all of our favorite design magazines from Traditional Home to Coastal Living, and its almost always in a big bright country kitchen, or boho chic beach house. The versatility of this furniture continues to surprise us!
